Pink Banana Ekiden
22 March 2026
Pink Banana Ekiden is the UK’s first public marathon relay, taking place at Clapham Common (Redgra) on Sunday 22 March 2026. An “Ekiden” is a Japanese long-distance relay race in which teams work together to complete either a half-marathon (21.1km) or a full marathon (42.2km), passing a relay sash (“tasuki”) to teammates at each changeover.
Participants register in teams of four, and each runner completes an equal leg: 5km for the Half Ekiden or 10km for the Full Ekiden. The event is designed to celebrate teamwork, community, and shared achievement, and will include marshalling, water provision, and a start/finish area at the Redgra pitches.
Spectators are welcome to attend and cheer on teams. Registration opens from 08:15, with the race starting at 09:00.
“ “THE ULTIMATE TEAM RELAY. RUN YOUR LEG, PASS THE TASUKI, FINISH TOGETHER.” ”
